The County Clerk’s Office is responsible for the local processing of Notary Public Commissions.

Upon receiving a confirmation letter from the Secretary of State’s Office, the applicant must obtain a $10,000 notary surety bond. The bond must insure the applicant for their four-year term as a Notary Public and the name and commission dates on the surety bond must match identically as on the confirmation letter from the Secretary of State.

Upon receiving the surety bond, applicants must then present and submit the notary bond in-person at the County Clerk’s Office to receive his/her oath and certificate. A filing fee of $6.00 (cash or check) will also be collected by the County Clerk’s Office upon processing the commission.
